11.07.18 Over 50 residents attended a public meeting to discover how a Community Land Trust could bring to the parish affordable homes for local people. A presentation by Wessex Community Land Trust Project explained the role of a CLT, the process of setting up a CLT and, most important of all, how a CLT is community led for the benefit of the community. Liz Maunder from Norton sub Hamdon CLT gave a personal and positive example of how the building of affordable homes has provided high quality homes for local families, and how the CLT are now able to run a thriving community shop.
Questions followed, and a show of hands from all but one in the hall gave a 'yes' to the principle of a CLT being formed. This positive response was reinforced when a call for volunteers to join a steering group received many names.
At a later date, information will be available explaining how to become a member of the CLT.
